MY STORY
All of us have moments in our lives that change our course. Finding Southport was mine.
I was working as a copywriter for an award-winning web design agency in NYC. I have to laugh typing these words now, because it sounds like my dream job. And for a while, it was. I've always had a love affair with words and I felt incredibly lucky to be able to tell the stories of businesses, brands and neighborhoods in a way that felt like more than advertising - it was connection.

But the hours were long and the commute unbearable. Needing a change of pace, I hopped a plane to Southport to visit my parents, brother and sister. Feeling every bit the weary traveller after shedding the hustle and bustle of city life, I stepped into Moore Street Market for lunch.
I ordered the Sweet Daddy and sipped on tea, while reading inscriptions inked on the wall by patrons before me. Otis Redding crooned in the background. And I was home.
I fell in love with the live oaks, made friends with strangers and craved the breeze off the river, heavy with salt and promise. A place where I could set my watch by the tides and let the slow, southern spirit envelop me.
I visited Southport many times over the next few years, always heartbroken when it came time to leave. I returned to get married on Bald Head Island, and again to introduce my first born to the sea. And finally, my husband, two-year-old son and I packed up a truck and made our last trip south. No longer visitors, but heading home.

Over the past seven years, I've fostered my love of marketing and community by helping small businesses develop their brands. I launched a successful home organizing business. I had another child and grew deeper roots. Becoming a real estate broker felt like the most natural next step - an opportunity to do the work I love, while helping others create a beautiful life in a place that I can't get enough of.
